I love old wood crates and boxes used for storage and display and just bought one for my small collection.

Last year our oldest son and I made a crate with castors and I have one other small wood lidded box. The large ones I have seen at antique shows are lovely but way out of my price range. This weekend I found this little wood crate at a new antique/junk shop for $10. More than I would normally pay but I loved the patina.

I'm not sure if it is old, but I love that it is rustic and has Canadian Classics stamped on each end.
All the pieces were thrifted except for the white medallion crocheted runner in the crate that my paternal grandmother stitched.
I think it will look lovely to add hydrangeas to mason jars in the crate this summer. And late spring (around May) will bring the beginning of yard sales and antique markets around here and you can bet I will be keeping my eye out for wood crates and boxes. Do you collect and use wood boxes in your home?

Hi Elizabeth,
I love your wooden crates! Yes I do have a Ward Baking Commpany crate that I have hanging in my dining area with ironstone too!
Love your crocheted dolies too!
I love this box Elizabeth. I wonder what it was used for. I have a few of boxes that I use indoors and out. I have a very large old tool tote that I haven't used yet and it's taking up space in the garage according to hubby. I'll have to find a good purpose for it this summer. :)
Elizabeth, I love your crate! It looks so pretty with your vintage ironstone and crochet doilies.
Elizabeth,
I love your crate, I have one that I need to utilize too!
Thanks for the inspiration!

I have an original Coke Wooden crate, and a cheese box. Love them.
Love it! I have a similar crate that hubby made me. I believe you can never have too many crates. :)

Nice box and it looks old to me. Love the way you filled it.
Your wood box is wonderful! I love old wood crates, I have two in my kitchen that I use for potatoes and onions.
I love the way you've staged the wood crate, ironstone and milk bottle. It looks wonderful!
I just love this crate. I have many of them that I use for various items. However, I like that you added your white ironstone items. I collect these too. It just looks so clean sitting on your table.
Found you at Coastal Charm.

My comment disappeared so I'm trying again {delete if a duplicate} : ). I love it, Elizabeth, and I love how your white dishes look in it! Such a pretty look!
I guess it's a perfect marriage.. crates (or toolboxes) and dishes. Luv the look.. especially as you staged it with the delicate handmade doily . Beautiful.
I too trade out dishes in my crates and my toolbox... as I said.. perfection.
Thanks for sharing .
Cheers, Gee

Your crate and ironstone look wonderful on the table. I have a similar runner, a crate, and white ironstone which means that a similar setting might be on my table this weekend.
Thanks for the inspiration.
